Why
Finding a place to rent in the Maldives mostly happens through word of mouth and Facebook posts. Listings vanish, information is scattered, and everyone starts from zero every time.
KULI is my attempt to give renting a real home. I'm building it because I live inside the problem.
Where it stands
KULI is live at kuli.mv and real people can use it today.
It shipped in slices, and it keeps growing that way, in the open. An honest status line beats a fake finished one.
Current focus
- Getting the core listing experience solid before adding anything else
- Learning what real usage looks like, not what I imagined it would look like
- Keeping the deployment story simple enough that shipping stays cheap

KULI is live at kuli.mv. Earlier work predates this log, which starts here.
New entries land at the top.
What it’s teaching me
The distance between “works on my machine” and “deployed where someone can use it” is where most of the real learning lives.
A marketplace is two products pretending to be one. Every decision has to work for the person listing and the person searching.
Ahead
- Grow KULI island by island
- Watch how the first real users actually move through it
- Write up the deployment lessons as notes before I forget them
