KULI

A rental marketplace for the Maldives.

Why

Finding a place to rent in the Maldives mostly happens through word of mouth and Facebook posts. Listings vanish, information is scattered, and everyone starts from zero every time.

KULI is my attempt to give renting a real home. I'm building it because I live inside the problem.

Where it stands

Parts of KULI are live at kuli.mv today and can be used by real people; the rest is being built in the open.

I'd rather ship it in slices than pretend it's finished. “Partially deployed” is an honest status, not an apology.

Current focus

  • Getting the core listing experience solid before adding anything else
  • Learning what real usage looks like, not what I imagined it would look like
  • Keeping the deployment story simple enough that shipping stays cheap

Log

  1. 13 Jul 2026

This page went live. KULI is already partially deployed at kuli.mv — earlier work predates this log, which starts here.

New entries land at the top.

What it’s teaching me

The distance between “works on my machine” and “deployed where someone can use it” is where most of the real learning lives.

A marketplace is two products pretending to be one. Every decision has to work for the person listing and the person searching.

Ahead

  • Finish the parts of the core flow that are still on my desk
  • Watch how the first real users actually move through it
  • Write up the deployment lessons as notes before I forget them
